The DNA used in polynucleotide treatment originates from salmon. Salmon DNA is, in fact, very similar to human DNA. However, for polynucleotide treatment, we only use fractions of DNA, which has been subjected to a clinical filtration and ultra-purification process. As a result, no salmon ‘matter’ remains in the DNA used for treatment; therefore, even those allergic to fish and salmon specifically are safe to receive polynucleotide treatment.

Before treatment, you will have a full consultation to assess your suitability for polynucleotides. You will be provided with all the information you require, and we will answer any questions you may have.

The areas for treatment will be identified and marked out, and then injections will be performed using a fine needle. The polynucleotide solution is injected into the areas of concern, such as the face, neck or hands. Once in the skin, these bio-stimulators kickstart the production of fresh collagen and elastin, gradually improving skin quality over subsequent months.

Depending on the treatment areas, the treatment will take 20-30 minutes. During this time, you will feel minimal discomfort, and any pain will be minimal and short-lived. Afterwards, a healing cream will be applied, and you will receive aftercare advice.

Both polynucleotide and Profhilo treatments are popular injectable options for skin rejuvenation, but they have key differences in their composition, mechanisms of action, and suitability for different concerns. Both Polynucleotides and Profhilo are skin boosters but are made up of different ingredients and work in different ways:

Polynucleotides are DNA extracts, which is a form of “regenerative medicine”. It is a water-based substance that stimulates your own body’s collagen and elastin production to create healthier, younger-looking, rejuvenated skin by working on a cellular level. It does not contain hyaluronic acid, so it does not draw in water or give much skin plumping as Profhilo does.

Profhilo is hyaluronic acid, which is injected into the skin to give hydration and plumping, but it does not regenerate the skin on a cellular level in the way polynucleotide does.
